Call Summary CowParade is now accepting proposals from artist of San Antonio who would like to participate in the CowParade San Antonio 2025. We are looking for two types of designs: A design you would like to create if you could only paint one full size cow Designs celebrating the history and culture of San Antonio Application Requirements: Email a completed application form, your proposed design(s), a brief statement about your design and a Copyright Assignment by 9/1/2024. You must submit an Original signed copyright assignment as part of your application. You may also submit photographs of your past work if desired; however, CowParade is unable to return any materials submitted. Artists may submit up to 3 designs for consideration Including an Original signed Copyright Agreement for each design proposal. |
Budget Description Each artist whose design is selected for exhibition will be provided with a life-size blank fiberglass cow to paint for the CowParade and will be paid a $1000 honorarium upon completion and approval of their painted cow. |
Project Description San Antonio-area artists are invited to submit an application to be considered for participation in CowParade San Antonio 2025. CowParade is the world’s largest and most successful public art event, with over 100 major cities worldwide participating in the creation of over 5,000 cow sculptures since 1999. The events feature life-size cow sculptures painted and transformed by local artists and displayed throughout the city. CowParade has come to San Antonio once before in 2003 and the campaign is back this year to produce and auction 75 cows to benefit CHRISTUS Children’s. |
Eligibility CowParade San Antonio is open to all artists, from the acclaimed to the amateur. Painters, sculptors, craftsmen, multi-media artists, and other wildly creative people are encouraged to apply. |
Application Requirements |
Letter of Interest: 2000 word maximum Email us an original the completed application form, your proposed design(s), a brief statement about your design, and a Copyright Assignment by 9/1/24. You must submit an ORIGINAL signed Copyright Assignment as part of your application. You may also submit photographs, slides or other examples of your past work if desired; however, CowParade is unable to return any materials submitted. • Press restrict all material submitted no larger than 8.5’ x 11’ size. Artists will produce their cows in their studios or homes. Please consider space for a full size cow. • Artists may submit up to five designs for consideration. Artists are NOT allowed to apply in teams. |
Selection Information |
Selection Process CowParade San Antonio will review your application as soon as it is submitted to ensure that it complies with the guidelines. If approved, your design will become part of the portfolio shown to event sponsors for selection. |
Selection Criteria CowParade San Antonio encourages artists to submit proposals as soon as possible so that we can assemble a sizable and diverse portfolio for review by sponsors and because sponsors will begin selecting their cow designs as they join the event. |
Timeline Application review will be completed by September 13, 2024 with notification to follow. |
